Frequently asked questions
Can I pre-mix my nutrient solution?
Yes, you can. A nutrient solution stays optimal for about 1-2 weeks once mixed. Beyond that, it may become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria or fungi. To ensure freshness, replace the solution every
couple of weeks, and give it a good oxygen boost by mixing it well before use.
How should I store FoFo?
For optimal shelf life, store FoFo in a cool, dark place. There is no need to refrigerate.
How often should I use FoFo?
For best results, use FoFo at every watering. If you're not
allowing runoff, be sure to flush your plants with plain water once a
month to prevent mineral salts build up.
What is the difference between nutrients and fertilisers?
The key difference lies in how easily your plants can access and use the nutrients. GT nutrients are specially formulated to be complete and balanced, providing all 12 essential minerals that plants need to grow
strong and healthy. What sets them apart is that the nutrients are in an ionic form, which means they’re immediately available for the plant roots to absorb and use. In contrast, many traditional fertilizers aren’t complete, meaning your plants do not have access to all 12 essential minerals required for healthy plant growth. Additionally, the nutrients in most fertilizers aren’t in an ionic form, so plants depend on specific microbes in the soil to break them down and make them
accessible.
Can I use tap water for my nutrient solution?
Yes, tap water is often the best choice for hydroponic systems. It has natural buffering capacity that helps stabilise the pH of your solution, unlike distilled or reverse osmosis water, which can cause pH fluctuations that could affect your plants’ nutrient uptake.
